The club of Carinthian students (hereafter KKS) is the founding student organization in the Carinthia region and one of the oldest clubs in Slovenia, since it was established in 1952.
The student organization in Slovenia is based on four basic pillars: Student Organisation of the University of Ljubljana (SOU), Student Organisation of University of Maribor (ŠOUM), Student Organisation of University of Primorska (SOUP) and Student Clubs Association of Slovenia (Association of ŠKIS), which includes 50 Slovenian clubs, including the Carinthian Students Club. All these organizations are united under the Students Organisation of Slovenia (SOS), which is the main organization of all students studying in Slovenia and is responsible for representing the interests of all students.
The purpose of KKS is to build a better social position, and to develop a number of extracurricular activities and interests in the Carinthia region and all of the four administrative units, which work side by side with KKS: Slovenj Gradec, Dravograd, Radlje, and Ravne na Koroškem. Due to the large area, KKS is becoming accessible to all of the members in branches like: Ravne, Slovenj Gradec, Muta, Črna na Koroškem, and in the university cities of Ljubljana and Maribor, where members can benefit from grants obtained, learn about student participation and adherence to Slovenians realization of projects.
The most high-profile projects of KKS are: Carinthias Gavda in all three university cities(Ljubljana, Maribor and Portoroz) KKS Fest - all day events, carried out in a sporting spirit and evening entertainment with famous Slovenian bands, KMKC Complex - Carinthian cultural Youth Centre, and of course ArenaZnanja.
ArenaZnanja – the site for knowledge is becoming more and more popular amongst the youngsters. ArenaZnanja is a place, where knowledge means something, and is meant to be taught. The project covers a variety of so called workshops, language courses, dance, and so on. People are relying on the young to make a change – we like to believe that we are in the middle of it!
